- Dear Andy,
-
- You and the other amoszine guys always complain tha none of us
- contribute stuff to amoszine. So Ive decided to start a column.
- Its for beginners, not for the pro`s.
- Please could you help me on a few things for my next columns.
- @6
- 1. How do you do long text scrollers. Ive attempted several
- times but it gets jumbled up. I dont mean a print something on
- screen then scroll screen but the ones you see in games, and like
- the one featured on the AZ driver.
- @5
- 2. Reading text files. Ive asked AJC (cool dude) for help and
- I almost understand it, but not quite. Any chance of explaining
- it for me m8. I know it`s something to do with OPEN IN
- 1,FILENAME$ whatever, but I dont understand it.
-
-
- @4 The next couple of questions are suggestions for the AZ driver, all
- pretty good but a couple of niggles I find irritating.
- @1
- 3. You can turn the colour text thing of in the AZ driver but I
- would find it a hell of a lot better if you could turn the flashing
- purple off. By pressing F seems appropriate.
- @5
- 4. I dont have a printer, so what I do is print my fav articles
- in college. I cant do this because of the weird cruncher on AZ 4
- and some other one. Any chance of Lee Bamber doing the
- decruncher so you can save it as a normal text file, then put it on
- a PC disk using cross dos then print it out on a PC printer.
- Dont tell the college though :-)
- @4
- Please help me, or my articles will end. Do you know where I can
- get the Amos Pro Compiler (with Amos Pro v2), Ive contacted loads
- of Software Mail order forms (direct software, special reserve and
- about 7 others) and they say they vant get hold of any because of
- the morons at EUROPRESS (the idiots who supports the PC now and
- dont give a damn about the future of AMOS :-( )
- @3
- Ive enclosed a disk and SAE. Contact me quick.

- R. Barry Jones.
- @5 I know that I have answered your questions personally, so I hope
- you don't mind me using your letter for Az?
-
- I won't go into detail regarding your first couple of questions as
- they have been dealt with before. ie. Scrolly messages can easily
- be achieved, especially if you have bought all issues of Amoszine !
- (Yip, Az has given away loadsa source on that subject)
-
- Reading text files is easy, displaying them as pages isn't quite as
- easy as it sounds, so I have included a small source code file for
- you to look at. The code was by PJ Hickman and believe it or
- not, both Magnum and DMC started from this simple piece of code.
- (I have included the file with this issue of Az - somewhere !!!)
-
- As for just turning the coloured text off, well not for this issue
- as I am using DMC (as you know by now) and I don't have the time to
- work on that just now. I am spending all my time working on
- getting Az ready for release just now and it does take many days !
-
- You shouldn't be using any article on Az without permission from
- Steve Bye first of all. Contact Steve and he may just uncrunch the
- old text files you require (or you can simply use the OLD article
- tester which is on Supplement Disk 5) - Cheeky! @1:) - Andy Gibson
